This is a lovely book, it really draws you in and is very involving. I always like Marian Keyes’ books, especially the stories of the Walsh family and their hectic, chaotic and slightly crazy lives. This book is particularly memorable though and while being full of things to make you smile (in particular Mammy Walsh’s emails to her daughter!) it is also a beautifully written story about a difficult subject (not wanting to give too much away and spoil things, so I’ll leave it there!).

It would have been so easy though for this book and its subject matter to descend into ‘corniness’, but it is written so well and you identify with the main character’s thoughts and feelings and struggles.

I love the Walsh family and have read several books involving the sisters - although not all of them yet, but hopefully I will rectify that soon. Marian Keyes’ characters are so funny. In this book Mammy Walsh really shines, and her battle with the dog owner is very entertaining. I also love her rants about the sugar-snap peas at the wedding, and her emails with ‘apostrophes’ put around nearly every word. Fantastic!

I had tears in my eyes on several occasions, but they were a mix of happy and sad. The book is very touching, and yet is also (as is usual with Marian Keyes) a great read. I could write loads more about this wonderful book, but it is very difficult to do so without giving away one massive part of it - you’ll see what I mean when you read it. I am keen to babble on and on about it, but don’t want to spoil it.
