I absolutely adored this book. I told people I was ill just so I could stay at home and read! I dont think I have ever more known and identified with characters, luckily I live where they live, do what one fo them does and have been through simular relationships. I know them, I started to feel I wanted to bring them up in conversation... 'oh and thats exactly what Clio told me....'

But the ending, oh the ending, questions I have:

Should we not be allowed a little more how Jocasta really comes to terms with something she apparently had sucha phobia to? I appreciate she just couldn't have the abortion and love a happy ending so I love the twist but its not as simple as she can't not do it. She now has to do it, I think this should have been explored further.

Are we to suppose that Kate never tells Peter and Grace of her parentage? I really feel the thing that would help Grace would be to realise she has a little of Martha still there. I know the issue of their religion but I went to a catholic school and I know thsi would have been still a comfort to Grace. Almost like having a little of Martha back.

Fergus! Should e really have to give up 3 million just so he can prove to Clio that he is 'good' - I feel like shhe should sacrafice someting also for me to be happy with this relationship, she flings herself back into his arms as soon as he does whats she wants him to do, he even phones to tell her!

oh and go on let Gidieon get back with his ex wife... that would ahve been irresitible, because she knew him, was prepared. I love her character, brief but great.
