Review by Sue Larkins

I really look forward to reading a Joanna Trollope book, and have loved all her books so far. This is another great read, full of human interest.

Edie is a mother with three grown-up children, the third of which has just left home, and the story centres on how she copes with this feeling of an empty nest; her husband views it as an opportunity for them to spend more time together, yet she feels lost and struggles to adapt to this next stage in her life. The children then all end up living back at the family home for a brief time, due to problems and complications they experience, and the reader then gets to know them well and can see how they handle the crises they face. This period of having her children at home again then enables Edie to gradually appreciate the joys of having her own life and the time to follow her own interests.

Trollope writes so beautifully that you can identify very well with her characters, she is always a joy to read.
